Fabric Covered Steel Truss Quality Buildings from Milestones

What to Look for When Buying a Fabric-Covered Building

Key Components:

1.   Will It Meet the Building Code:

First and perhaps foremost, will the fabric building you are considering meet the IBC2006 Building Code?  You don’t want to make your choice then find out the building is not permittable in your local area because it is not engineered or cannot meet the newest and recently changed building code.

Milestones Building & Design ensures your building will be engineered to meet the newest Building Code.

2.   Base and Anchoring:

What is required to put the building up? Do you need a concrete foundation, an anchoring system, posts, etc.?

Milestones technical sales personnel will help you identify your specific building requirements.

3.   Steel Framework:

What gauge of steel is the structure made of and what is the diameter? This will make a big difference on how your building will hold up against, general wear and tear. How much space is there between rafters/arches? This will determine the wind and snow load that the buildings can handle. How is the building frame finished, i.e., hot dip galvanized, flow coating, or powder coating? These techniques will determine if your building frame will resist corrosion.

4.   Cover:

What is the material for the cover made of and what is its weight? This is important as the cover makes up your exterior which will ultimately be the appearance and the part of the building that must stand up to weather and wear. Is the material fire retardant?  What color options are available for the building cover?

5.   Building Components:

How is the building held together? What is the strength of the winch system, what type of anchoring options are available (ground vs. wall) and what is the quality of the cable?

6.   Warranty, Service and Support:

What type of warranty is offered on the building and who are you purchasing the building from? Local dealers provide excellent service and support and should know the technical aspects of the fabric building plus be able to consult you on the building requirements in the area.
